Emotional Intelligence
A raft of research (Kunnanatt, 2008) suggests that organisations that have implemented Emotional Intelligence (EI) programmes and focussed on EI development of their employees have seen “powerful” improvements in employee effectiveness, and the changes have been sustained over time. Yet some professionals continue to ask me “what has emotion got to do with work?”
How do you feel when you win a case?
How do you feel when you save a client a fortune in tax because of something you have done?
How do you feel when one of your team lets you down?
How do you feel when you get a promotion or pass an exam?
How did you feel when you were invited to become a partner in the firm?
How do you feel when you get stuck in traffic due to road works on the way to an important appointment or to court, and how does that impact on you for the rest of the day?
Hopefully you will have begun to realise that emotions are an integral part of daily work. They impact on our performance and motivation. They impact on our relationships with others and how we relate to ourselves. Those with low levels of EI could be having a detrimental impact on your firm.
Our programmes can help you to overcome the problems associated with a lack of EI. For those in your team who are Emotionally Intelligent we can help you to maximise their impact further.
