David’s experience and expertise as a golf coach are second to none. Combining this with his qualification as an NLP Master Practitioner, David has built a reputation for facilitating change both on the golf course and in the board room!.

Where Eagles Dare – January 08
Top business coach and regional director of the Academy for Chief Executives, Alan Dean,
organised a two day retreat for his Academy group members in January, with a difference. Thirteen group members, all Chief Executives of a wide range of organisations took part in a work shop to develop their Emotional Intelligence. The workshop, designed and delivered by Anita Morris of North West based Holden Morris Consulting Ltd uses Eagles to enhance understanding of the different factors of Emotional Intelligence.
At first the delegates were somewhat sceptical about how they could enhance their leadership skills and understanding by spending time with falconers from Cheshire Falconry and the Eagles they work with. However, by the end of the two day event delegates agreed that they had learned, or reinforced their understanding of, some very important leadership skills. For one or two of the delegates the event became a real eye opener as they realised that they had ‘Eagles’ in their organisation whom they needed to handle in a different way to that which they had been doing. The Chief Executives felt that working with the birds made the lessons learned much more memorable, something they will never forget, plus everyone enjoyed the opportunity to handle such magnificent birds of prey.
The original idea to use falconry in a business setting was sparked when business psychologist and MD of Holden Morris Consulting Ltd, Anita Morris, had been introduced to Cheshire Falconry’s owner, Steve Birchall. Having researched leadership and emotional intelligence as part of a Masters degree, Anita was able to quickly see the links between leadership and falconry and with the help of Steve and head falconer Mark Birdsall, over the past two years they have developed the concept into a series of programmes. The team continue to develop the programmes and are about to launch a new course which includes the opportunity to experience hunting with hawks.

Overview
Being an effective leader influences individual, team and organisational performance. One of the most recent and influential models of leadership is that proposed by Daniel Goleman, which is based on Emotional Intelligence (EI). According to Goleman (1995), ‘In leadership positions almost 90% of the competencies necessary for success are social and emotional in nature’.
This innovative programme includes: EI and personality profiling, feedback and exploration. A series of three one-to-one coaching sessions and attendance at a day long workshop.
Please note: due to the nature of this programme and to ensure that delegates receive individual attention, each workshop is limited to a maximum of 12 delegates. Delegates from the same organisation must book onto separate workshops.
